Secrets of blogging that the big guys use to engage their customers

Have you ever wondered what blogs with huge readership numbers are doing that attracts so much traffic to their sites? As a small business, how would you like to engage customers, retain readership, build brand loyalty and ultimately convert more of your readers into paying customers?
Have you spent countless hours working hard to attract an audience but are still unable to generate sustained and sticky traffic to your blog? Then I've got great news for you. Today I'm going to reveal some simple techniques that the big blogs are using, that you can also duplicate in order to make your own blog more powerful.

The number one thing that all of the huge traffic blogs are doing is posting relevant content for their target audience. It sounds simple enough but simple is not necessarily easy. First you have to "be the demographic" that you're trying to reach. Let me ask you a question..
If I called you at 3AM, woke you up from a great sleep, and whispered.."tell me who your target audience is" .. what would be your response?
(If you hung up the phone, the you're not SERIOUS and we'll discuss that in another post). But would you be able to deliver the goods? Because if you know your audience that well, then you can provide relevant and valuable content to them.
Blogs with huge traffic avoid these common mistakes:
  • Blog posts are random, infrequent and unpredictable.
  • No one from the company answers questions or responds to readers comments.
  • The content on the blog is all about simply promoting the company.
  • There are no pictures, videos or other multi-media content and the blog is visually boring.
  • The blog adds little or no value to the readers desire to work, live or play.
Big traffic blogs don't play these games, and neither should you. Don't sink your efforts to build relationships with your readers. One quick technique to add value is to create a "how-to" post.

These are basically tutorial style posts that explain to the reader "how-to" get something done.  Identify a task that allows you to provide step-by-step instructions for a reader. Do you have a product or service that you can break down for your reader so that they can leave with a tangible benefit? Do you sell a piece of software that can be confusing to download or install for newbies?
Growing your company's blog is a process of providing content and getting visitors to your website. But you also want to make sure your blog is well rounded and add lots of value. Give you readers something to bookmark, favorite, share and talk about. In short, engage them with content and get them to know, like and trust your business.
Besides, why should the big blogs have all the fun?
